In May 2021, Concordia University Wisconsin’s renowned “Women in the Church” class welcomed Outlander author Diana Gabaldon as a guest speaker, thanks to the facilitation of Dr. Harald Tomesch. As a longtime professor of New Testament exegesis and theology, even teaching advanced biblical Greek, Tomesch redesigned the course to highlight both biblical women and contemporary female authors. The event gave students an enriching, faith-based dialogue with Gabaldon, during which she emphasized “honesty in your writing, honesty in the person God made you to be, and honesty in the inquiry of your life.”
